Tips When Buying A Used Car

Posted on December 31, 2014 at 2:06 pm

There’s always a risk with purchasing a used car. Will it be a dud? Are you being ripped off in terms of price? Here are some of our recommended tips.

Research – always do this. Check reviews on the car model, the insurance type, the economical side (petrol, road tax etc). Work out how much the car will actually cost you to run, so you’re not in for a shock 6 months down the line.

Price – Use a car valuation site to see what the car you’re looking to purchase is actually worth. Then you know if you have any scope to haggle in terms of price with the dealer.

Paperwork – Check all the relevant paperwork. V5, MOT and Tax are the most important. Others to look for a service history forms. They may say the car has a full service history, but do they have proof of this?
